Virtual Data Room Market Busting and What It Means For You

03/24/2020

Virtually, or indeed semi-virtually, or quasi-symbolically, it all comes down to one question: Does the virtual data room market have room for advancement? The industry analyst Brian Cross, in his newsletter is predicting some big things.

With a little imagination and a few thoughts of optimism, we can certainly expect to see a great deal more activity in the field of data room sales in 2020. While new models are already being sold online, the vast majority of sellers that we're seeing today are selling second hand models and used systems that have already been refurbished, repaired, and have just needed some work. This means that if you are looking to sell a computer on eBay and you happen to be considering buying a used model, you will find a better deal online than you will at your local retailer.

This makes sense if you think about it, because the virtual DataRoom market has always been very, very competitive. We've all seen the ads and catalogues advertising brands such as Gateway, Panasonic, Compaq, HP, and Acer that are all great buys. This is what happens when so many sellers are looking to get rid of systems that they can no longer sell and are looking to move on to newer models.

Another interesting factoid about used systems is that the real estate for their reselling is going up, meaning that those companies who are acquiring a lot of used systems, while keeping them out of circulation, are actually competing with a lot of other data room sellers for the remaining inventory. It's not exactly competition, but the truth is that we are seeing inventory reduction.

Today's data rooms were built around the capacity of being able to accommodate and manage huge amounts of paper, tape, and tapes. When these capacities are rapidly approaching their limits, the increasing number of sellers who are going to be looking to move their inventory off of their lists will be adding a lot of buyer interest. When the virtual data room market reaches its saturation point, I can almost guarantee that everyone will start selling what they can buy at discount prices. The sheer number of sellers who will be selling at a low cost will result in a tremendous improvement in the buying power of buyers.
